Mississippi's Lone Abortion Clinic Can Stay Open, For Now

On Sunday, a federal judge in Mississippi issued a temporary restraining order blocking the state from enforcing new regulations on abortion clinics. The ruling will allow the Jackson Women's Health Organization, Mississippi's lone abortion clinic, to stay open for now.

The restraining order temporarily blocks a new law requiring doctors at the Jackson clinic to have admitting privileges at a local hospital in order to continue performing abortions. CNN reports:

The judge's order blocks enforcement of the law at least until the next hearing on the matter, which is scheduled for July 11.

"I'm jubilant," said Diane Derzis, clinic owner and president. "It means the constitutional rights of women to make their decision, for the time being, is in place."

Biloxi can have all the Casinos because they are on the water, right?

What is to stop the making of Hospital boats, abortion clinics that are off the water?

Just a sneaky idea.

IIRC This has been done off the coast of Ireland.
Still Miss is a big state and many women will find it difficult to get to the coast.

Right now many people in our country don't seem to care about helping one another. People will spend thousands at the casino then go to the polls and vote down a penny tax to help pay for education or health care.

that will not stop non profits from buying boats to set this up. It worked for the Anti-whaling activists at Sea Shepherd.

just leave me shaking my head. I think all of the brains in the state flow downward with the river and out into the Gulf of Mexico, and are being polluted by the BP spill. I live on the Coast, so at least mine is a bit closer by.

Thank heavens someone in Jackson wised up enough to put a stop to this.
