Because the men's swim teams, the men's track teams, etc will not have females.

But yes, this is the first time that every participating country has sent at least one female athlete to the Olympics.

Hooray !!!

As the result of elections earlier this week the IOC has 3 female members. It is the first time that many women have been on the committee at one time.

However, I dug a little deeper and found that it is a 15 member board so that actually totally sucks.

Another fact - for the first time the US delegation has more women than men. Title IX

The US team had more females than males and I think Great Britain did, too.

I loved watching some of the countries that had never sent women to the Olympics before come into the stadium during the opening ceremonies. The women on those teams looked so proud and thrilled to be there. It brought tears to my eyes.

Who is the only athlete to have 100% trained in Iraq.

And the Palestinian and Saudi women.

I cannot remember who the one flag bearer was from -- I THINK Mali -- but she is from a village that doesn't even have electricity or running women, and she was one of the first women from her country to be in the Oympics.

I also think Canada and the Aussies have more women, and they are two of the other huge teams.
