when are we going to see more female head coaches in pro sports? I noticed there are male head coaches in BOTH male-dominated sports like the NFL and NBA, and in female-dominated sports such as the WNBA. And there are even male coaches for women's olympic teams. But there are zero female head coaches for men's teams. Why has it been like this? Is it because people think male athletes wouldn't want to be ordered around by a woman?

(7,932 posts)we are going to need to see female players in the NFL and the MLB first. In high school I played baseball and on our rival schools team there was a girl who pitched mostly. She was the nastiest pitcher I've ever faced. I would love to see a women make it to the MLB.

(30,884 posts)where both men and women have played the game for eons yet women coaches for men's teams are rare while men coaching women is still common. There are women coaches for some individual men in sports like skating but women don't seem to be rising to the top of the ranks in collegiate, Olympic, or professional sports for men.
I wonder if there are statistics available on this. I'd be curious to see how frequently women are coaching men's teams.
