Did admin talk to anyone about the rape weekend we had a while back?

and why those posters are still free to roam here (last I checked their status was still Active).

I asked in the Welcome and Help thread Gormy made but didn't get any reply so I am supposing that Skinner has said nothing on this?

What do you people think of this? Are we just going to whimper and leave it alone? There was plenty of anger at those threads from many many DUers but we are supposed to pretend it never happened until the next time - because there Will be a next time.

By the Connecticut tragedy. The admins are likely too busy putting out forest fires set by the NRA trolls right now to give it much thought.

I agree with you that it's an important issue, and needs to be addressed as soon as the fracas has died down a little.

That when there is a will to ban the gun disrupters, that happened pretty darn swiftly. Why the rapey posters need some kind of judicious handling is a wtf.

If in this donnybrook some of the pro-rape people find themselves banned. They seem to have a common mind-set: my desires come first, the hell with the right of others to live in safety!

From the controversy over rape. It still kind of rankles that one issue is considered more extreme than rape and therefore more likely to get a poster banned. I guess I wonder how to explain to the Admins and DU at large that if a poster is trolling on an issue like rape, there isn't a gray area. That person is 99.9% likely to be a right-winger.

Don't know if that makes sense...

I read all the threads in Meta about it, and as well as the whole massive gun thing sweeping everything in its path aside, I also got the sense just before that happened that what we were going to see was one token nuking to make it look like something was being done. It's like what's happening with the gun stuff now. The most extreme trolls are being shown the door, sometimes after having been here for years, but next week, there'll be something else, and the remaining gunners will go back into gunbernation in their group until the next massacre....

I don't know what we can do. All I know is staying silent just makes it look like no-one's got a problem with that poisonous stuff when in fact a lot of us do...

So I'm not so sure that is a good enough excuse.

I think you are right about the token banning - that Doctor guy? Maybe that was supposed to be enough for us?

No, it's not enough. For me anyway, and lots of others.
We are being ignored and that makes me angry. We are apparently invisible - I don't expect a magic solution tomorrow but give us at least the respect to recognize we are troubled by this. But no word at all. To anyone, even by PM.

There would be no such thing is there was a holocaust denial weekend or a homophobia weekend. We all know this.

But we are supposed to wait our turn. Like forever. Like real life.
