All Medical Expenses are first reduced by 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income ( a line on your tax return) before being added to Home Mortgage Interest, Property Taxes (and sales taxes), Charitable Contributions, and Miscellaneous Deductions.

You may deduct the total of these Itemized Deductions or the Standard Deduction, which ever is greater.
