Maybe the company would give a discount for folks without insurance? Let people pay for it over time? GoFundMe pages? I don't know, but you're right, there should be some way to affordable get this to a lot of people.

that's perhaps not quite as "leveling" but does the same sort of thing with gimbals? It wouldn't require charging.

The price has come down on this item--it used to be three hundred bucks and is now down to 2.

I can understand the expense because it uses gyroscopic technology that is sophisticated enough to respond to even very small tremors. I can see it being life-changing for people who can't feed themselves because of that, but have the range of motion to otherwise accomplish the task.
