(29,526 posts)Maybe the company would give a discount for folks without insurance? Let people pay for it over time? GoFundMe pages? I don't know, but you're right, there should be some way to affordable get this to a lot of people.

(135,425 posts)that's perhaps not quite as "leveling" but does the same sort of thing with gimbals? It wouldn't require charging.
The price has come down on this item--it used to be three hundred bucks and is now down to 2.
I can understand the expense because it uses gyroscopic technology that is sophisticated enough to respond to even very small tremors. I can see it being life-changing for people who can't feed themselves because of that, but have the range of motion to otherwise accomplish the task.
