How Protected Are You With Just One Dose of a COVID-19 Vaccine? Here Are Some Stats

More than 179 million Americans and more than 44 million Britons have received their first dose of a two-shot COVID-19 vaccine.

The US has authorized vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech, while the UK has authorized Pfizer's shot as well as one made by AstraZeneca and Oxford University. Both countries have authorized Johnson & Johnson's vaccine, which is a single dose.

The article gives hard stats for the most widely distributed vaccines. The second shot of the mRNA vaccines makes sure the immune system will remember the bug in the future.

enough to get one of the mRNA vaccines when they first came out. I’m leaning towards getting one of mRNA vaccines as that seems to be the info coming out on protecting against Delta. I’m in Florida so surrounded by anti-vaxers.

I would have been fine with the J&J since I was about 80% sure I'd had the disease. Now that I've had the first mRNA jab, I'm 95% sure I had the disease, I reacted badly to the first shot. Yes, I'll get the second.

They said there was no official word on booster shots yet. I explained that I had the J&J and was wondering about getting a mRNA shot and they just repeated "there is no official word on boosters yet."

So, that wasn't helpful. I think we need a statement from CDC on the J&J and what people should do next.
