Please be careful out there this holiday weekend re COVID-19

I've switched to counting weekly cases per state ((as FL switched to weekly, others to thrice-weekly and no weekend reporting etc.)).

In the Virginia/DC/MD area, state websites reported an increase of (cases/deaths) 1203 47 51 0 392 19 from 23 to 30 Jun. Given the number of deaths, I suspect many cases of the Delta variant are being undetected because with headache/runny nose/cough, people are dismissing it as just allergies/colds/etc.

FL's website reported 11873 new resident cases in the week ending 24 Jun.

For the rest of the country, an early morning comparison of 24 Jun to 1 July website data showed over 11000 in CA before the removal of over 6000 duplicate cases, 7132 in TX, 4370 in MO, 3852 in AZ, 3350 in NV, 2816 in AR, 2814 in CO, 2593 in UT and so on.

Eric Feigl-Ding tweeted that rolling 7-day average cases per 100K population have been rising sharply in Nevada Missouri Utah Arizona Arkansas and Oklahoma. From looking at his charts, it looks like those states hit rolling lows in late May/early Jun but bounced up in the final two weeks of data.

Peter Hotez reposted a tweet that SW MO patients are being shipped to other parts of the state.

Please, everyone, stay as safe as you can and when in doubt, MASK UP ((no matter what CDC said)).
