Haven't had full vaccine or a booster since 2010.
Can I get just a booster or do I need the full vaccine?

(107,012 posts)immunity to pertussis, as well as tetanus--the former which, should you become infected, can cause you to put young children at deadly risk. Recent outbreaks have been linked to older child caregivers, grandparents or just acquaintances who spread it to children too young to have been vaccinated.
The combined Tdap vaccine IS the recommended BOOSTER for tetanus.

(113,131 posts)The question is whether you need the full TDaP shot, which boosts your protection against diphtheria and whooping cough along with tetanus. If you didn't get it or don't know your status, it's a good idea to get it.
I had whooping cough as an adult and it sucks.

(3,183 posts)The doc stuck me with the Tetanus / whooping cough combo. This was right before Covid and I think she was spooked. If that shot is offered my reaction was the same as straight tetanus with the extremely sore arm. Nothing too crazy. I think a booster is due at 10 years or 5 after a messy wound.
