Related: About this forumI've been watching "Botched" and I am very impressed by these doctors and how professional
the are. So I remembered when I had surgery a few years ago the nurse, (male) was tasked with putting the electrodes on my chest for an electrocardiogram. He put all of the electrodes right about my left niple. There were about 6 if I remember correctly.
I felt very uncomfortable when he was doing it and I said something and he said something back to the effect that he was doing it right. So just now I googled "where to place electrodes for electrocardiogram" and there are all these images telling whoever where to place them, I suppose to get a proper reading.
Now I'm wondering why the fuck he did that? Was I sexually assaulted by this nurse? And if I was going in for surgery, (I think it was the gastric bypass) why didn't one of the doctors do something?

(13,485 posts)Accepted the burning pain, and would have raised holy hell now and ask why she did that, even to steralize the area to remove cyst. Surely, there must have been something less caustic than RA. I'm still mad about it

(13,485 posts)Better based on this exp. I've had awesome male drs.
Frankly, now Id complain to the state medical board. I felt it was purposely sadistic

(2,353 posts)While in the ER, a young man in a white coat came in and said he had to do a breast exam. I didn't ask why, I don't know why I didn't ask why. It's bothered me all these years that I didn't challenge him. I've always felt like I let myself down.

(20,779 posts)and have heard from friends that they had things like this happen. We did not speak up at the time and are only now realizing how we were treated should have been reported. But that is how we were raised - don't make a scene. We also knew that we would be blamed for their behavior - we did something to cause it. I am so glad things are changing and women are speaking up. There is no guarantee that they will be believed but we are headed in the right direction.
I still think of it with anger and that was 50 years ago.

Sounds like the tech didnt know how to do correctly I have done hundreds of EKGs on patients.

FloridaBlues
(4,339 posts)You go under nipple and continue under breast area towards your left side. For best ekg.

(25,344 posts)Very interesting. The 2 surgeons were wise to stay away from the young man whod already had 130 procedures. Hes got a screw loose. I would have loved to hear the full conversation between the 2 surgeons as they drove away from that house call.
IMO, the woman who had her overly large and disfiguring breast implants removed certainly looked better after the revision, but the breasts still looked too big. Again, my opinion.

He was able to do a good job on it too. (I hope I'm talking about the same person. He looks like a Ken Doll. He never exercises but looks like he spends all his time in the gym)

(25,344 posts)The woman who wanted triple Q breasts is just plain wacko. I looked at several images of her on Google and those things on her chest do not even look like breasts, perhaps because they pretty much arent - just fluid filled bags. They are not voluptuous or sexy, just grotesque.
In one of her pictures, it looks like she has someones butt cheeks attached to her chest.

(37,622 posts)I started watching this when it only had a few episodes, if I remember correctly. Maybe 4? Can't recall because after I watched a few episodes I dropped it because I thought it was disgusting. Here's what I wrote and left in my "posts" file. I meant to post it but forgot:
If you watch "Botched," Netflix's series on two plastic surgeons who solve problems caused by incompetent plastic surgeons, you may develop a strong contempt for your fellow human being.
The subjects are largely unsympathetic because they got themselves into these horrible situations. Imagine going around with two boobs that are outrageously large, or a squished nose--all because you were unhappy with what Mother Nature dished out to you.
There's this guy who is addicted to procedures. He doesn't even look human. He looks like a cartoon. The episode on him opens with him discussing his next procedure with his companion. The companion seems dubious all the way.
This guy thinks the human body and appearance are meant to be reconstructed. He designs his own plastic surgery projects and then shops out doctors to enact his vision.
In this episode, the two plastic surgeons visit with him at his house. The door is answered by his lover who is wearing bikini shorts. The two doctors think this is a little weird but then the subject of the episode floats down the staircase in tight little speedos himself. Freaking hilarious. I think of all the episodes I watched, which was only about 3 or 4, this was my favorite.
Most of these situations were caused by the subjects being cheapskates who went to Mexico for a procedure, however, I did feel sympathy for the woman who had a car accident.
-------------------
I'd like people to know why I'm unsympathetic. It's because I've seen two close friends go through harrowing situations with cosmetic surgery.
She was originally told it was going to cost something like $12-13,000 and it ended up $10,000 more than that--so around $23,000. She was 65 when she decided to do this. I will grant that she did not age well. She said she did it for herself because she didn't like what she saw in the mirror.
It was a horrible ordeal, at least from my POV. It took a good five months before she was free of symptoms like itching ears, itching face, swollen cheeks, and others I can't remember because it's been a few years since I saw this.
I would say her face looks good but when you see close-up what the recovery process is like (and see the expense), you do think twice about ever having this work done.
A big problem is always the neck. The face looks smooth but the key tip off is the neck. It always shows signs of age. The only way around this is a turtleneck collar.
Another friend of mine had a procedure on her neck. She had "turkey gobbler" neck, as she described it. Well, she nearly died on the operating table. I can't recall exactly what happened, but they almost lost her. Her reason for doing the surgery is that her husband is 13 years younger than she and on top of that, is quite a handsome man. I understand why she did this. The two looked like mother/son, not like a married couple.
Up close, though, this is something that has a lot of problems that go with it.
