Had mine out yesterday, laparoscopic. I have 4 holes in my belly and staples. Very sore. Super dooper pain meds, but I'm not taking them, since I'm already on diclofenac.
How long did you stay so sore? How long to get over the whole thing where you could go back to normal? Anything to avoid?
thx

(7,609 posts)I know people tell you you should be back to normal in a day or two, but they lie. Don't push it. Enjoy some rest.
Avoid doing too much . if it hurts don't do it.

(2,079 posts)Same thing, laparoscopic. No staples. Worst was when they removed the drainage tube. Not painful, just odd feeling.
Remember being sore, had to take it easy moving about at first. Spent a week on the couch playing Playstation.
By the end of the week I was back up and (slowly) continued with renovating a closet to make a pantry.
They say to avoid certain foods, but I can't remember which ones, and it obviously hasn't adversely affected me, so...

(3,830 posts)I was mostly back to normal after a week, but it took a few months to feel pre-surgery normal.
I had one issue with food but that's because I went on an ice cream binge. I can eat ice cream
with no problem but not a quart at a time lol.

manner after my first at-home sleep following surgery. Felt like a large knife had been inserted in my gut. I learned he to roll out of bed so no stomach muscles were involved.
Scars are kind of cool. Mine looked like three bullets holes.
