I watched the "comedian" Ricky Gervais on Netflix. I guess I have

no sense of humor, I never found anything he said funny. Apparently, he must be funny to someone since the crowd
seemed to think so. I heard the word "woke" more from him than from Ron DeSantis.

him before, I would probably never watch him again. I hope he can get his act together and return to the old, funny Ricky.

in the British version of the sitcom The Office’, which predates the American version, plus adaptations in other countries. I found it hard to watch after a few episodes. His character was as clueless, more devious and mean-spirited than the American version portrayed by Steve Carrell, who was many times more funny.

Watch any show that started in Britain and it will be the same. Even the newer Ghosts is a lot more harsh in the original British version.

He was hilarious on that show. Never got to see his stand-up routine. But I also used to think Dennis Miller was funny, so there's that.

he is not coming at that from the same direction as DeSantis. He is, at his heart, a satirist. He has to espouse that which he is satirizing during his bit and has taking hits for that. I get what he's saying in that he's also fighting the fight and shouldn't be the target of the same level of scorn as those he is satirizing. Even in his bit he was hitting pretty hard on the bigots. He is a staunch progressive.

I can't say I've watched a lot of his stand-up material. But I liked his TV shows Extras, After Life ( I dropped Netflix so I only saw the first season), and especially Derek. I liked the British version of The Office as well as the American Version. He makes me laugh.

I thought "After Life" was brilliant. And he was funny in "Extras." But his stand up routines are cringey at best. My wife absolutely hates him.
