Marvelous Mrs Maisel
Guess my husband and I are going crazy. We don't have Amazon prime set up on our cable BUT we know we watched the first two episodes.
The only subscriptions we have are Netflix and HBO and Showtime.
Does anyone know if somehow someone else aired the first season besides Amazon prime?

(34,189 posts)I know for most of the streaming services when I got my first Roku I was offered anywhere from a week to a month free trial. I avoided many of those since I didn't want to get hooked on any programs I might not be able to finish out a season.

(10,402 posts)I'm mixed on it. I like a lot of the minor characters. Kenny Bruce, Declan Howell and some others. It is a wonderfully produced show.

(10,402 posts)Lenny Bruce, not Kenny. Declan is in season 2, at least I think that is his name, may be only in one episode.

(16,331 posts)I've only watched two episodes, but the ridiculously fast talking is driving me crazy. The story line isn't drawing me in yet either.

(42,770 posts)It seems like closed caption is not as obtrusive as it used to be?
As for marvelous maisel, I can understand how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. I think it's a lot of nostalgia, the 40s etc. But maybe if you put CC on?
The bodyguard is very intense and would definitely keep your interest?

(16,331 posts)I watched another episode of Maisel tonight. I will say that I love the music, but just not crazy about the story line.

(42,770 posts)I have only seen two episodes of MM. It did strike me as a giant leap from upper East side housewife to raunchy icomedian. But I guess I will overlook it for a moment. She or they Won an Emmy so will stick with it. Watch Crazy Ex girlfriend and Love on Netflix if you get a chance. Loved those.

(10,402 posts)I absolutely loved Love! So sweet and funny and the writing was outstanding and the humor twisted. I'll have to give Ex Girlfriend a try.

(42,770 posts)That breaks out into a song or dance. Boring. They do this on CEG, but it actually fits, and is funny, and you can hear and understand the words.
Rachel Bloom is just brilliant. She developed the show and sings and acts and dances. Almost all the characters do...which is amazing to me that they found so many triple talented people.

(31,868 posts)IMO the second season allowed producers to develop characters in greater detail. Hence, many of these episodes are some of the best ever aired on television. Awesome production quality -- writing, cinematography, sets, costumes, etc. They don't skimp on budget.
It's delightful! I've enjoyed it very much, well worth the Amazon Prime membership. Kudos to the entire cast and crew.
