Addiction & Recovery

I miss my home group terribly, but I'm unsure if I should go there because it's a group for people dealing with someone who has a drug addiction - Nar-Anon. I've been to others but didn't connect the way I did there. But here's the rub, while I'm an ACOA and a codependent (CoDA), the person I went to Nar-Anon for is out of my life and while my life is fraught with struggles, it's not that struggle.
As I write this, I realize, I need to write the very same note to my home group. But still, any thoughts out there. Would it be best to go find a group more in tune with my current needs or stay with the group I cherish? The concern has kept me away.

(68,644 posts)Resist any conventions that don't allow for personal need. Align to both, unless one or the other forbids it. And, if they do, then take that into consideration.
If neither works, stay where you can but keep looking.

(21,006 posts)And don't worry about whether the addict you connected with is a "now" in your life or a "past" in your life.
When we get ourselves tangled up with addiction through someone else, the effects don't necessarily stop when our contact with that person stops.
helpfully,
