Related: About this forumToday I have 24 years alcohol free
24 years ago today, I was in a detox facility with my blood pressure at 225 over 175 from severe alcohol withdrawal. No matter what they did, they couldn;t get it to drop. They put so much phenobarbital in me that I felt no withdrawals, but my BP still wouldn't drop. They had to send me back to the ER, where I was given a shot of something. Woke up three days later in hospital, done with the withdrawals. Never went back.
Delerium tremens are the worst thing on earth. If anyone want's to know what it's like, watch the movie, "Jacobs Ladder".
I went to AA for six months, got offended when a whole meeting attacked me for saying I was having a good day and never looked back.
I am a happy camper today!
