(11,463 posts)8 a.m. is when the earliest reachable bar from here opens.
And the "leave house" times to catch the bus to it are... 726 am, 841 am, 913 am, ...
Grrr, will have to write my legislators about such a big gap in time between the 726 and the 841. Imagine the sheer hell of missing the 726 and having to wait 1 hour 15 minutes for the 841 am
Especially when one is hungover, and there is no alternatives except the Listerine, oh yum yum, I forget how much lemon juice I used per ounce of Listerine in order to make a tolerable drink out of it (really bad if I remembered that after 8 years).
Oh, of course if I missed the 726 am, I could drive to the bar, but then how do I get the car home? So its three alternatives:
(a) Listerine and wait for the 841 am bus
(b) Drive and risk the DWI on the way back
(c) call a taxi to get there, and take a bus back
=========================================
Had I been hungover and thirsty, I probably wouldn't have even thought about (c)

(4,205 posts)Pretty much a normal thing, probably triggered by something that was a part of your drinking habits, I have been sober for quite a while now and still have the occasional drinking dream and wake up with the feeling that I blew my sobriety, takes a little bit to realize it was a dream and I didn't drink ... Same thing happens with smoking dreams... has been 20 years since I smoked and longer than that for drinking, old habits die hard.
I doubt it is anything more than that in this case for you...Sometimes old habits pop up and surprise us now and then but usually have no real effect on anything and don't really mean anything at all.

(4,205 posts)Many of us did that for many different reasons. One of the many things I discovered in sobriety was the ability to go to bed when tired and actually sleep rather than pass out...Was a pretty good feeling.

(11,463 posts)sleep. All the wrong REM patterns or somesuch. Even just one drink.

(4,205 posts)Just one drink so can't speak to that.. But the stages of alcohol at the point that you "go to sleep" that is the downer side of the drug, the next stage as that one wears off is an "excitement" stage which wakes you back up, you really don't get any real rest in between and in my case the only way to get back to "sleep" again was to drink more... so a never ending cycle and slow or fast spiral down...

(38,726 posts)not that you are old, but I am older...
The computer between my ears ain't a new model.
It has some old programs that I tried to delete, but they were so old, I couldn't get them out..
I went to the store for a new brain, said we got one, but installation was not possible..
My old one, still got it, tells me the time of the liquor store, where the real good sweet food is..(I am also a sugar addict)
and tells me I am no good and lousy...
So, that old computer lies to me. Sends out bad texts, and stupid times and places..even while I sleep it does this..
So, I am not sure that idea is correct...but...when it does that...
I try ...I said try...to ask my HP..to get it to turn to some other subject...Like "Stuart" is ok..just for today...he is ok..not at the liquor store buying, or at the food store...binging..but listening to some quiet music..or posting some idea in this group....We have to hang in there, in spite of some texts from the computer between the ears..we are good people.
