The power of making amends

this is a horrific story of an alcoholic raping a woman. What struck me is that when he learned what he did in a black out drunk he made amends. Took true responsibility. True heartfelt amends. She cried for hours and felt some relief from her long term grief according to article. Wow.

The words to Steps 8 and 9 have been coming to mind every time we hear from Kavanagh and his lame excuses. Given all the outrage we just heard from him this afternoon, it's obvious to me that he sure could use some kind of program. But he's obviously not ready, someone in the main forums posted about how many times he stated how much he still likes and consumes beer.

Thankfully, I can go to women’s meetings tomorrow. Many survivors in the rooms.

That was my second meeting ever back in 2008, met my sponsor there and it's remained my home group. I would go to all women's meetings if I could...
