Does this ever happen to you?

Sometimes, I really look forward to going to sleep, so I won't have to think about not drinking. I've been clean for over seven months, but I have a rough evening once in a while. It definitely is getting a lot better and easier though.

years I couldn't wait to go to sleep. More out of depression likely, for me.
Hang in there, you are doing great. Take it one day at a time.

A cpl yrs back, on a late Sunday night, I was listening to the TV, brushing my dog, and suddenly....'it's 10:15, you can get to the liquor store before 11.' my addiction pointed out.
I was brushing my dog!
For me, cravings jump up at the oddest times.

I have a reward system. If I make it through the evening clean, I have a bowl of ice cream and watch an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 in bed before going to sleep. It's been working for several months now.

I've been clean and sober for 12 years, but occasionally I have a drunk dream or one where I ponder the choice to drink or not.
Perhaps it has something to do with the times we're all living through, I don't know for sure. Several months ago I had a dream that I was at a social event and picked up a drink as other people were. I looked around to see if anyone was watching but no one was watching, so I took a long drink, and startled awake. My heart was pounding. I realized it was a bad dream but, it felt so real! I was grateful, for the opportunity to reflect on the gift that sobriety is for me.

Go with it. Wanting to sleep is a lot better than wanting to drink.

Been there, done that. Hang in there one more day. Then one more.

I've done that (so far) 13,547 times and can tell you it gets easier.
