Do you ever do this?

I find myself encouraging other people to drink in social situations. Especially my wife and kids. Maybe they think it makes me feel awkward if I'm the only one not drinking, but the opposite seems to be true for me. I feel weird if I know they're not drinking because of me. Anyone else?

Then trust your instinct on it.

Back when I actually was sober, I did do this as well, to answer your question.

sober? If so, maybe that's why they're unsure of how you'd feel. My last drink was new years eve 1992 and the only time I feel uncomfortable about people drinking around me is if they act like asses Best to you and your sobriety!

Newly is a relative term. I've told them many times how I feel. It's all a learning experience. I'm way more comfortable being around drinkers than at first.

Their beverage choices are their business, it's not mine. My BFF has commented a few times on the wine with dinner, and, I'm not invested in that.

Though when I've been to dinner with family or friends, they've asked if I mind if they have a glass of wine with dinner and of course I don't. I just avoid occasions where people are apt to be drunk, not something I feel like dealing with.

BTW, congratulations on 9 months! That's a real milestone! I order coins for the beginners' meeting I attend and we give out coins for 24 hours to 11 months and you deserve one, too!
