Related: About this forumI was reading Daily Reflections every morning.
But its not for me. It has too many references to God.
Yeah, I know Good Orderly Direction and Group of Drunks , but I get tired of translating.
I read two Al Anon daily readers every morning. Yeah, sometimes they get into the god stuff too, but not as much.
Anybody got any suggestions?

(2,291 posts)I am in fact an avowed atheist, I am also a 35 year member of AA....This is just my opinion but I have seen many many people at the tables make this statement and the thought that goes through my mind is "Another one looking for and excuse". Take what you can from the program and leave the rest but don't keep looking for excuses..There is no reason whatsoever to use any "god" of any sort...
Just IMHO

Good deal, they are hard earned years...As I stated that was my opinion based on things I have seen... Mostly that experience has been with new comers and usually they are looking for an out.I am sure you have seen that also...I had some problems with the "god" thing also but was able/needed/had to get past that if I wanted to live literally...so I just ignored all of the "god" stuff, didn't pretend just ignored it...was really not all that difficult once I decided to do it..Every ones experience is different in many ways but the goal is the same..
There are groups that do not use any "god" analogies for those of us who have trouble with it..
P.S. nothing personal at all but I have seen old timers such as we are look for excuses also....

(222,072 posts)I think there's something in there for just about everyone and everything. I sure understand where you're coming from, but I also agree with "take what you want and leave the rest." At the meeting I went to tonight, the member who led the meeting decided to close with the Lord's Prayer - his choice. But I know his story and he really is a miracle - so if that's what works for him, I don't have a problem with it. My personal choice is the Responsibility Declaration. My sponsor, Jewish, but not religious, chose to close any meeting she started with that, so that's been my choice, too.
