The dreaded holiday season is fast approaching

I've heard it called the Bermuda Triangle for relapse. Thanksgiving. Christmas. And New Years. I don't like this time of year usually. But facing it sober means I look forward to it even less. I'm not worried about drinking, just all the stupid parties I hate going to. This year I have an excuse, and my wife is totally understanding. She'll just have to go alone to some of the events.

has always been very stressful for me, and it seems to get worse the older I get.

very strong! Smart advice too. I hate this time of year in that people go nuts, get rude and pushy, etc., all for that one particular gift item or whatever that is so important to them to have to have.

Commercialism has gotten way out of control, and I've lost all desire to even participate in such hypocrisy. I'd rather have a nice meal and eggnog, amid conversations with good friends, offline, and do what humans are good at, enjoying each others' companionship one-on-one.

I hate the holidays. It has all become forced and meaningless. Just want to enjoy the cooler weather. Wear sweaters and drink hot chocolate. No way - must do Thanksgiving and endure Christmas. Well, there is pumpkin pie and hot toddies. I do put a splash of peppermint schnapps in my hot chocolate. Yes, I am off to buy Christmas gifts and thinking what I can bring to Thanksgiving dinner — sigh.
