I haven’t had a drink in almost 3 years and my life is all the better for it. A lot of people don’t have my dependency issues, thank god. I say celebrate in the way you see fit, as long as it doesn’t cause harm.

... reflect the same. Cheap beer cans, bottles and McDonald's trash.

It's everywhere, I see it as I ride my bike. Everywhere.

I considered replying, but thought better of it. There are some who will always find an excuse, even at 9am.

alcoholic (one of my writing teachers was a student of his, and had some mind-blowing stories about Cheever's drinking, including one where he left his home to teach wearing no clothes) used to say that he could "spot a glass of sherry in a paragraph", meaning he could tell by reading the writing of others whether they were writing under the influence of alcohol.

I bring this up because of some of the posts we've all seen this week.

And without issue. Lots cannot. I happen to fall into the second category.

But more to your point, I do notice. But maybe I notice because I know I can't celebrate that way.

I have been sober a minute or two and one thing still remains the same since I got undrunk: I/we are surrounded by booze, ads for booze, the promotion of booze, events and "reasons" for people to drink booze, etc etc and that is not going to change.

And with the Holidays are coming up and it is not going to decrease either. If anything, increase.

I know what works for me to stay sober and I do those things.....mostly.

Appreciate your post.

But I've been clean for a couple years. In a way I wish I could have a few beers to celebrate But with me, there never was a thing as a couple beers. So I just avoid it.
