Addiction & Recovery
Related: About this forumA tough Holiday season for me this year.
The Holidays are not my favorite time of year. My mom took her life at the beginning of December, several years ago. Then add the whole pandemic thing. And weekends are tough as always. I've been sober for a couple years now, but this weekend hasn't been a whole lot of fun. I've been retreating to my bedroom relatively early this weekend with a big bowl of ice cream and watched some MST3K to put me in a better mood. It's my reward for not drinking and if I get through the next week, I'll be doing okay.
How's everyone else doing?

(17,757 posts)I start getting depressed before Thanksgiving and it lasts into Jan. It is my end of year tradition.
Good on you for finding a way to cope without the alcohol. When things get really bad, buy yourself a jar of Maraschino Cherries, eat the whole bottle and then drink the juice out of the jar, and wipe your face on your sleeve! That will make you feel better guaranteed. Good luck, I hope you get to feeling better.

(24,013 posts)I'm a big fan of Kroger's Private Selection and Tillamook. Favorite flavors include Peach, Strawberry. Mint chocolate chip. Cookies and cream and Chocolate fudge extreme Moose Tracks! Oh, and chocolate peanut butter. The Tillamook is especially creamy and rich, only there's only one Krogers in the area that carries it.

(25,448 posts)They have a strawberry rhubarb that tastes just like the pie, and a vanilla swirled with caramel and shortbread cookie pieces. Also a vanilla with white chocolate and raspberry swirls.
Mmmmmmmmmmm!
