Related: About this forumUgh! Another Saturday night!
It remains the worse night of the week for me. I try to keep busy. Go for a walk. And hit the hay with a big bowl of ice cream and a movie on my laptop. It does the trick, but I still look forward to the weekend being over.

(23,882 posts)I've been sober for around 2 1/2 years. And weekends are usually okay. But I don't look forward to Saturday nights. I used to spend the evening drinking wine and making a nice dinner. Well, it's now iced coffee and dinner. Because I don't drink, I tend to make simpler meals and try to spend less time in the kitchen. I sued to spend hours making elaborate meals. Oh well...

(11,780 posts)The weather was nice and there was all sorts of activity on the streets and sidewalks. The meeting was upstairs looking out at the street. When they called on me I said Another Saturday night and I got nothing better to do than go to another GD meeting. Everyone laughed, not at me but with me. I realized they'd all been there and it cheered me up.

(23,882 posts)At about 8 I drove down to the lake and went for a long walk. Took lots of reference photos for potential paintings. When I got home around 9:15, I grabbed a mug of ice cream and watched some MST3K on my laptop and went to sleep. Perfect way to stave off the alcohol cravings!
