(59,723 posts)I know of EMDR & that results with persons on the Autism spectrum are not favorable.
DBT I'm somewhat familiar with. Effective treatment for those with Borderline dx. Very intense treatment & very structured.
IFS looks interesting:

(29,526 posts)I just started exploring it last week, as well. DBT is very practical, centers on mindfulness techniques. For folks who arent familiar with those techniques its a helpful set of new tools.

(25,517 posts)...to even mention the death of my brother, my only sibling, at the way-too-young age of only 23. I was 26. Scuba diving adventure gone wrong. Especially if having to tell someone about it for the first time, I would dissolve into tears, even years later. He died in 1978.
After EMDR, I became able to discuss it when necessary, and sometimes be helpful to others who have had similar losses. Wisdom I would rather not have, but Im glad I am able to share it when appropriate.
I dont know how EMDR works, but it does - at least for me.

(11,780 posts)I cant say it did anything for me. I asked the therapist how I should feel and she said I wouldnt notice anything, and I didnt. If it helped at some deep level I couldnt say.
