Addiction & Recovery
Related: About this forumI'm on day 25 of Dry January.
I started NYE.
I have anxiety disorder and I loved my merlot every night. Just a few glasses could take the edge off my worrying and that was great. I looked forward to it every day but due to health problems (IBS, etc) I decided to try DJ.
Didn't think I could do it. Every day I write the new number on the calendar. Feels good.
I don't know if I will keep it going...but if I am going to try to control it more so in the future. Maybe jsut on weekends.

My poison was nicotine,,,, different substance but the same disease. I have been 4 years without on January 17th.
Occasionally I miss it but I can finally say I will not smoke again.

(7,334 posts)One day at a time. I was sober for almost 5 years until I slipped up this past June.
Only one time. I was angry at myself, but with my spouse's support I was able to shrug it off and start again with just a little guilty moment then I moved on with my sober life once again.
On a side note my Dr. has helped me to develop a regimen using legal Medical Cannabis - both THC and CDB - to help control my anxiety. I still use a few traditional pharmaceuticals but over the last 24 months the 420 has really assisted in keeping the number of my anxiety attacks way way down, and less powerful too. I am also sleeping better.
Not saying this would be for you or anyone else, I am not a doctor, but if your state has legal 420 it may be something you want to at least discuss with your Doctor.
I am an alcoholic. Been one for 5 decades.

(13,264 posts)Beer and wine have mega calories as do mixed drinks with sweet mixers. If I give up the calories I take in during cocktail hour daily, I might lose at least a pound or two a week.

(1,076 posts)so insures sobriety more than helping another with the same problem. Your simple sharing here is not so simple, it is vastly important because you have effectively reached out to others.
