Addiction & Recovery

I've been on vacation in LA visiting my daughter. It's been fairly easy to stay clean while I've been out here. Ny wife and daughter and SIL are used to my routine. After dinner, they start hooking into the wine and blab away while I retreat to my bedroom and watch a movie or show and indulge in a bowl of ice cream.
It's kind of funny, the other night they had finished off the last of the wine and opened up some fizzy waters that were laced with booze. I had never had them before (in my drinking days) and had a sip. My daughter said several times, "You know there's alcohol in that Pops." I think she thought it was going to trigger me and start my drinking back up. I've been sober for 5 1/2 years and a couple times a year I'll take a tiny sip of my wife's wine. No biggie.
Anyway, staying clean and happy!

I used to love chugging the high octane IPAs. I've avoided sipping those for that very reason.

(11,543 posts)I spent last week in Bristol UK, so instead of my old routine of staying in the pubs, I found AA meetings within walking distance. Meet lots of nice people, they all said they liked my accent. Huh?
Once day at a time.
