Addiction & Recovery
Related: About this forumMy SO is drunk out of his mind
Every day, he drinks a giant giant bottle of wine in about 5 hrs. Since I'm trapped hete, I usually ignore it. Its easier than being screamed at and threatened. He usually doesn't slur n fall down. I try to keep my interaction w him to a minimum.
Today he slugged down the giant bottle in abt and hr, started slurring n teetering around crashing. I called my relatives I'm so stressed. They told me to ignore him as much as i can. I don't have enough to move out. He's telling me this is my fault (his pain) and that i don't care he's in pain.
I wish i was dead. I'm 48 hrs out of medical exam he's supposed to accompany me to

(123,111 posts)alcohol is causing serious issues in his life and he keeps drinking that is the definition of an alcoholic.
I am so sorry. Call that AA affiliated group for the families of alcoholics. Maybe one of them can drive you to the exam.
Call an abuse hotline.
And keep in touch at DU.
Don't be alone on this tough journey.

(15,359 posts)I never have understood what I call the bed wetting mama's boy drunk. Anyone that thinks a few drinks is a reason to go on a bad trip and cause trouble. I've been that way especially since I was a trustee at our Eagles lodge about 20 years ago. There was no end to the problems with drunks in the lounge. Grown assed men that couldn't handle it.
I got the idea that whenever someone had to be booted for a 30- or 90-day suspension, if something like that could be reported and have the guy's alcohol license yanked too, they might learn something. Sure, they could get someone to buy for them but maybe that would help improve their behavior. They wouldn't want to be too mean to the person they need to give them their baba.
Hed just find some way. He's an addict. He got cut off his opioids playing little games. They finally cut him loose.
Now its booze instead. Oh and he stuffs himself with food. He'll eat a jumbo bag of chips overnight

(2,888 posts)Maybe Alanon could help. Sometimes talking with people who have a similar situation can help. If nothing else it can get you out of the house for a while.

(359 posts)I went to two meetings and after listening to everyone's heartbreak and stories, I left my (newly discovered) addict. But the meetings were obviously so helpful to the members. They had great advice and were obviously wonderful support to each other.
