Related: About this forumI finished chemo this week.
YAY!!!! Yes!!!!! Woohooo!!!
Still have 3 more days of radiation next week then I get a 4 week break. Then I go back for blood work and CT scans to see how effective the treatments (chemo/radiation) have been.
Next week they do a renal panel to see how my kidneys did with chemo.
Got some Silvadene for my neck and face burns.
Have a couple of new medicines for my mouth and throat. Supposed to help me eat by numbing and coating my mouth and throat.
Almost done with the treatment phase.
I hope I don't have to do any of it again.

Keep your eyes on that light at the end of the tunnel! Here's hoping you get there quickly.

(92,758 posts)I'm trying to do just that.
Half-Century Man
(5,279 posts)It took years to understand that.
Chemo and Radiation can be harsh, but you survive it. I occasionally remember in dreams the 45 minute/6 foot trips to the bathroom. I'm a twelve year survivor. It took a year to nearly recover my pre-cancer abilities. I did phenomenally well for 8 more of those years, however the effects of the chemo and radiation caught up with me. Now I can go almost two miles before I have to rest. But I learned to really enjoy those two miles.
FWIW, I hope you are in a state with medical marijuana. The evidence is overwhelming that cannabis is a potent and effective cancer fighter.
Solly Mack
(92,758 posts)That's good advice and I do try.
Sadly, not in a MM state.
Thanks!

But in my thoughts I've been with you often.
A milestone is ahead to put a hopefully permanent end to the journey. Thanks for keeping us informed along the way.
I'll keep you right where you've been - in my thoughts and surrounded by the white light of my prayers.

(92,758 posts)I'm going to try and make the best of those 4 weeks. (Hopefully by getting a tiny bit of my taste buds back and eating)

Easy for me to say, always been better on giving advice ... but I'm probably not alone in that respect.
You'll be in my thoughts over the coming weeks, so glad you can look at the end of a chapter and a new beginning

(198 posts)I got the r word Thursday. I still have two more treatments but as of now I'm in remission. After the treatments I have maintenance every other month but good news abounds in our household!
Still taking a shit load of pills but I won't miss the chemo at all. BTW I have a rare non hods kins lymphoma (less than 5% of all NHL's) so I have literally been a guinea pig, and hope the work that was done on me will help others.
I congratulate you and wish you the best. I know how you must feel!

I'll kinda miss chemo but only because I usually took a nap during the treatment. I'm such a light weight the benadryl caused me to fall asleep. I really enjoyed the snooze. lol

a great meal, good glass of wine...or???
Hugs for you, Solly
