Cancer Support
Related: About this forumIt's official - No more cancer.
But I still have to go 3 times a year to the maxillofacial surgeon to check for potential problems, as well as more frequent visits to my regular dentist to check for problems. (Because it could come back)
The scan showed no problems (didn't spread).
The check-up today showed a healthy mouth...healthy tissue/gums/tongue....no growths...no nothing to worry about.
Of course I'll still worry. Can't help it.
Still.....I am very happy.
Thank you so much for being there for me. I'm not going anywhere....if I can help someone half as much as you guys helped me that would be great.

(92,823 posts)The doc took some cell scrapings today and I didn't leave until the results came back.
I'm almost paranoid about my mouth now. The least little thing has me worried. I gotta relax some....but still be aware.

(11,175 posts)True, you can't help worrying, but those frequent checkups should help.
Some time after I was pronounced cancer-free, I was talking with a friend who was expressing concern about my health. I told her that, if one of us had cancer, it was more likely to be her than me. After all, I was being monitored and she wasn't.
The other thing I found about having survived cancer was that I worried less about other stuff. Things happened to me that, before, would have had me very upset. Post-cancer, my reaction was, "I got through that. I can get through this." I hope you also find that your overall worry quotient goes down.
