What is more important than life ...
at first I came to DU for a discussion of political issues.
I found myself caring for HC for all during the 2008 elections, not only as moral issue, but as a way to put a majority of citizens on an equal footing and to move our country forward. My daughter then decided upon med school, and even though she might earn more under the for profit system, I still entertained the need for equality in this unbalanced system.
Next I throw into the mix my husband being diagnosed with MDS and acute myeloid leukemia and undergoing a transplant in 2010 and a relapse in 2014 and the need to sell our home. We had 'good' or 'great' insurance and family members who could contribute, but the annual out of pocket maximums and loss of income does take its toll, even with a wonderful support system!
We are personally and extremely very fortunate in so many respects, I am certainly NOT complaining!!!
But I find it hard sometimes to become engaged in the 'my party' vs. another party ... the struggle for life is just so much more important.
