Ken Burns series on Cancer begins tonight on PBS

http://cancerfilms.org/

My brother works in the development of cancer drugs. He met the author of the book --on which the series is based--
several years ago.

The series covers cancer's first documented appearances thousands of years ago through the epic battles in the 20th century to cure, control, and conquer it, to a radical new understanding of its essence. It also features the current status of cancer knowledge and treatment —the dawn of an era in which cancer may become a chronic or curable illness rather than its historic death sentence in some forms.

and also to your brother for working in this field!!!

In 2010 when my husband had his first transplant for MDS/AML I read about haplo and cord transplants as stand alone procedures. We are now staying at an ACS facility where several people have received a haplo plus cords, something that was not being done back in 2010. The idea is to use the haplo as a bridge until the cord (or stronger cord where two cords are used) takes over.

Science is moving quickly, please tell your brother that we appreciate what he is doing to save lives

Doesn't sound positive. Maybe I'll hold off until the weather clears a bit. It is still cold as winter out there and that is making me nuts. I need sunshine and warm weather (and soon) or I am going to sink into a sad.
