I have been having lots of pain in my right knee since about the beginning of February. Saw my oncologist today and told him it was still bothering me. He suggested that we do an x-ray to rule out any new cancer growths.
Just got off the phone with him. He said that there do appear to be spots on the bones in my knee area and upper leg. I am not extremely upset at the moment (I kind of suspected it), but am definitely not looking forward to more pain. Dammit, I was just getting used to walking again after many months of being pushed and/or hobbling around! I hope my Frankenstein (left) leg and my walker will help me keep that bit of independence for awhile.
Maybe I should just handle it a la Civil War days: anybody have a bottle of whiskey and a good chain saw they know how to use to get rid of the sucker? Don't worry, I am just kidding!

(92,759 posts)The pain makes it all worse, and I know that sounds obvious, but now that I live with the chronic pain caused by surgery/treatment I know just how bad it really is.

(9,083 posts)He said he wants to see what the cancer markers from the blood test look like before we talk about anything else. I have an appt on the 30th for a Zometa infusion, so perhaps he will have suggestions then.
I had a nice message all ready to preview, and lost my connection and everything but that sucks. If it is specific to one place, can they give you morphine?

(9,083 posts)So far Lorezapam (sp) helps pretty good. I think he is still hoping to shrink the cancer markers with the Faslodex too.

(9,083 posts)I have an appt with the radiation onc on the 23rd, my Zometa (bone strengthener) on the 30th and then more scans on April 1st.
Busy couple of weeks coming up, but if it helps with pain I am all for it.
