Cancer Support
Related: About this forumA month ago my son was diagnosed with cancer
He found it early stage 1, the doctors seem to be right on top of it. At least I think so.
Hes young 31 but he had a stroke two years ago so possibly that might complicate things.
Such as when they set up chemo for him some signs he was told to Watch for
He Said he already has from the stroke.
He finished one week of chemo so far has a couple more treatments then its just watch and check.
Of course Covid complicates things also. So when your normally isolated to some Degree with chemo its much more so with Covid.
I worry for him I cant be around him because of needing to be isolated we went with his younger sister being his care since she lives in his house. I understand that but as mom I want to help him.
I think things Will be fine but the
Worry is there what if it comes back etc.
Sorry Im rambling between his cancer, fires burning all around and still feeling stuff from a Fall that resulted in broken ribs and a sore back from a few weeks back going back to work after being out for so long from Covid shut down.
I think Im stressed and needed to vent a little.

(34,640 posts)Life just sucks right now for so many of us.
Im sure your son understands that you love him but cant be with him right now. Can you talk to him by phone or computer just to check in and see how hes doing? Its not as good as a hug but its better than nothing. He is fortunate to have a care giver living with him to see to his needs. Can you send him little things like new pjs or his favorite coffee or things like that?
Heres hoping things improve for all of you very soon.

its just that it seems like my family ( includes brothers and sisters etc)
Go thro some major trauma every year that sometimes when multiple things are happing I get a bit over whelmed.
Thats part of the reason I like the DU
Somebody always has some good advice or kind thoughts.

(34,640 posts)When I was in the throes of chemo and very depressed, my sister-in-law sent me a little album like the kind you put photos in....she had clipped from magazines and newspapers, funny cartoons, jokes, funny pictures, things that made me laugh, and put them all in there. I cant tell you what a day brightener that was! I still have it.
Hope you recover soon from your injuries as well!

(1,015 posts)And that is a sweet idea. When he was young one thing that would make him laugh was Garfield. I might have to get a book or something.
My daughter said he he mostly has been sleeping this weekend so apparently chemo wipes you out.
Sorry you had to go through chemo also.

(15,124 posts)by many alcoholics and addicts---even if you don't pray--- separates things into manageable categories.
With it, you ask for "serenity to accept the things you cannot change; courage to change the things you can; and, wisdom to know the difference."
Hang on.

(1,015 posts)I try to remember things like that but Im a worrier and some days you just gotta
Vent to more than your own family who is also caring the same burdens
So thank you.

(23,423 posts)Improvements being discovered. Even if the cancer comes back....my husband's original chemo was months of IV drip and that knocked the cancer down for about 15 years. Then it started to make trouble again. But now a more effective treatment has been developed and it's a daily pill with next to no side effects. Perfect! Don't lose hope!❤
