The radiation damaged a part of my brain. It also paralyzed my epiglottis. My lymph nodes in my neck have been somewhat inconvenienced, and I have to massage them daily. think of it as an enforced hobby.

or throat. I have a lot of experience with that. I nursed my mother for 4 years. She had throat cancer. I also lost a friend to that. Those are tough roads. I am so happy you are a survivor and your attitude speaks volumes as to why. You inspire me with my little problems. Time to stop mopping around and just get on with it!

I guess there are all kinds of hobbies, why not this too? I am so sorry you have to deal with that but I cannot tell you how incredibly happy that comment made me. You are going to do very well, it will never be as easy as you would like but you are up to the task.

The cancer was at the back of my tongue and on the right side of my neck.

At first I was told I could lose my tongue, but the cancer was external and hadn’t grown inward. No tongue would have had dramatic effects on my life. I could not say la la la or lu lu lu anymore.

I saw her two more times just for my own peace of mind. Then one day, I realized I was OK with not going.
