1 mo post surg.

so, recovery from my melanoma surgery has gone very well. it healed cleanly, w little pain. i didnt f it up by lifting too much. i get an occasional sharp sting, but it’s momentary.

now i cant wait for the skin to stretch, and rid me of this feeling that someone is squeezing my shoulder. the puckery scar doesnt bother me, but that grip is cancer, grabbing me.
the word bounces around my head less every day, but i know i cant let it go away, cuz i’ll drop my guard.

all things considered, i’m a lucky duck. i try to b grateful for that.

And my mom died of cancer. So it’s about the scariest thing I can think of. You’re holding up very well and your attitude seems great

That the healing is going well. Cancer is the #1 killer in my family, I am about to see about a dermatologist to look at the cloud of weird moles developing all over my torso. I'm not comfortable about it at all, I've had benign things carved off my face, shoulder and legs. I feel it's just a matter of time.

I've been using this stuff called Bio-Oil on surgical scars, and it's rather effective. The ingredients are various plant oils, and it only has a faint scent from almond oil.

A year ago I went to the Derm and had tons of them froze, shaved and sliced. Then a surgeon cut 4 out that came back non-cancer.
My face looked terrible for a week. When friends asked what happened, I’d just point at the wife.
Now, a year later I’m seeing more to be looked at.
Glad I finally went in.
