My son may have testicular cancer age 27

Per an ultrasound and physical examination last night at an ER. He got a “STAT” referral to a urologist. Just got a promotion to a new position at his work and he’s very scared and stressed to have the work pressure and now this. You just never know what curve balls life will throw.

May you get the good news you seek.

Should you not get the news you want, just know that testicular cancer is one of the most curable and need not impact his life expectancy. So while I hope he is negative, the prognosis is nearly always good.

testicular cancer in 1996 and after extensive treatment he went on to win multiple Tour de France and other high profile cycling events. (Yes, his legacy is tainted by doping, but I'm citing him here because he's alive and well nearly 30 years later, and a symbol of hope and encouragement for our DU friend and their family).

Didn't stop him from winning 3 Stanley Cups in 2016, 20017, and 2023
or playing 1000 consecutive NHL games.

And a HUG to you. I know two young men who have or I should say had, testicular cancer. One was I think 14 yrs old (now a high school Junior) and the other is a junior in college. Both have had successful treatment and are cancer free. I hope the diagnosis is different for your son but even if it isn’t, take heart in knowing that there is great and successful treatment out there for him. Keeping you and your son in my thoughts.

My step grandneice's husband had this diagnosis 20 years ago, apparently in one testicle. His children, born after his treatment (about which I regrettably have no details) are now in college, and he is around to be proud of him.

He may need to have the affected testicle removed. Make certain he is given the option of storing semen prior to undergoing chemotherapy or radiation.

morning at UNM Cancer Center. Surgery Nov 8. Testicle looks cancerous per ultrasound. Has to be removed. He’s pondering prosthetic (more does he do it at time of surgery or at a later date).
Right testicle appears “healthy” so this is the good news. I would prefer him to bank sperm but he’s just all over the map right now so I am letting him process.

Thanks for all the support to all my DU family.
