and surprisingly not painful depending on the situation as there are no nerve endings in the skull.

What type of procedure is being done?

I don’t live in fear, but the body is perpetually breaking down. If it’s any comfort, you have the support and prayers of many other scared people, too. You aren’t alone. 😄

I understand completely. I repeatedly tell the Lord, "I'm scared." For things that have happened and for all that may happen.

Ask for Holy Unction for the surgery and for healing. The Divine Physician will guide the doctor's hand and give expert assistance with all.

I believe for ultimates. With God all things are possible. Divine healing by our Divine Physician.

"All Merciful Savior, I ask for this sister to be healed. Through the prayers of Theotokos and all the Saints, Save Us!"

He has a slow growing tumor affecting balance and hearing. He's told it will be a straight forward procedure where they cut out a chunk of his skull and put it back with a plate. Yikes!

Hope yours will be straight forward as well.

When I deployed to Iraq in 2008, without a weapon -- and at age 52 with no prior service -- and I felt afraid (which was often), I reminded myself that "perfect love casts out fear." That helped a lot.

Remember that you are loved.

I’d be really anxious, too.

Wish you all the best. Please let us know how you are doing.

This may not help, but my husband had emergency surgery for a brain bleed 6 1/2 years ago and he came through fine. It took a while to recover but suddenly, after around 6-7 weeks, he bounced back big time. Came home from rehab and decided to build a gazebo in the back yard!

Good luck.

I don't know what yours is for. Mine was for epilepsy.... plenty of testing went into it. I had time to emotionally prepare. A healthy diet during recovery is ideal

Good luck
