long before I started taking Gabapentin. Now I take 600 mg 3 times a day. I don't think that's what's kept me from sleeping, though.

For a very long time I've been drinking a lot of tea, hot and iced. My mom told me to drink decaffeinated tea in the evening. She said it helped her, so I tried it and it helped me too.

I only drink decaf iced tea and I only drink my regular hot tea during the day. I haven't been up all night; I just got up. I went to bed about 9:30, so I got some sleep tonight. I'll get up and make me a pot of hot tea in a minute. I'm glad I can take the Gabapentin because I really need it. It's the only thing that's worked for the kind of pain I have.

think it has any properties that keep me up at night. One of my docs told me to quit all caffeine and drink only water. I still have my am coffee, but then drink water and decaf tea. It made a huge difference, and also greatly reduced my need to empty my bladder.

I don't have to make nearly as many trips to the bathroom. I didn't realize how much all that caffeine was affecting my life. It's a good idea to keep it to a minimum.

I'm not on gabepentin, but our aging dog is as of this past week. He is very arthritic and had been on a leading NSAID daily for several months, as recommended by our previous veterinarian. I spoke with our new vet about my concerns that the NSAID is gradually breaking down his liver and kidneys. She said gabepentin can be used as an alternative without the same side effects. So we're giving it a try. We still have a supply of the NSAID if he's having a rough day.

The other difference (of lesser concern but still a nice benefit), if gabepentin is effective, a year's worth of it will cost us less than $400. The NSAID added up to $3,000 per year!

And have never thought it affected my sleep. However, our vet has prescribed it for us to give to our bichon frise (along with trazadone) prior to vet visits to help calm him down. Mainly, it makes him sleep.

And the dosage is the human kind. We fill it at a regular pharmacy.
