Exercise and Fitness
Related: About this forumI love the gym I joined, but one thing bugs me.
They have a tremendous number of special interest groups and activities that sound great, everything from some team sports to martial arts to racket sports to yoga, etc.
And they hold 90% of them during the week days between 9 to about 4.
Which sucks for those of us with full time 9-5 jobs.

Does this one cater primarily to stay at home parents? Retirees?

(6,581 posts)They have some things in the evenings. A fair amount on weekends. It seems like everything I might be interested in is on a weekday during the day.
I only joined two months ago, they probably rotate schedules.

(146,218 posts)Much as I am not an early person, it was great to go there, get in some exercise, then shower and get into my work clothes.
Maybe you could talk to one of the managers about having more things in the evenings?
You didn't sign on full year contract. That is one of the biggest problems with many gyms that members don't realize until its too late - classes are at inconvenient times for YOUR schedule. This hurts particularly if those classes were one major reason you joined.
You can try asking management to offer a favored class on a trial basis at a time convenient for you as long as you can get a minimum number of people interested. I went to a gym that had a very active group that met at 5:30 am during the work week. They offered a number of early morning classes because of membership requests.
