Exercise and Fitness
Related: About this forumAnyone else doing/done Insanity?
I started on 3/26, took 1 rest day, 1 day I substituted with a 60 minute group power and on Easter I skipped Insanity walked a couple miles with my parents. Yesterday I bought a heart rate monitor and started tracking (and started Insanity over from day 1) on the Team Beachbody site to keep me motivated.
I've been up and down with my weight and fitness over the past 10 years or so and I've learned that I need to stay committed to exercise as a lifestyle choice. As soon as I stop trying, my weight and cholesterol skyrocket.
So far my review: it's tough, but that's ok, I am going at my own pace. I LOOOVE that it requires no equipment and that I can do it in my small living room and Shaun T is motivating and nice to look at . I know that it can be hard on the knees, but so far mine are ok. I am more prone to ankle injury but using good shoes, as with any exercise, is key.
I've done months of fitness bootcamps when I was in my best shape a few years ago, but my gym isn't offering it this spring. My brother has had INCREDIBLE long-term success with Insanity so I am giving that a go. Are there any DU Insanity success stories to motivate me?

(1,137 posts)6 days a week, followed the program. It was a BEAR! But, it was fun. My boyfriend and I did it together. In 5 weeks I had lost a total of like 11 inches between waist, hips, thighs, arms. Then we went on vacation, traveling a lot for work, and got off schedule. I actually want to get back on it, but hurt my back in February (herniated disk mid back and annular tear at c6-7... Physical Therapy right now and light exercises. Hopefully soon I will have recovered enough to do it.
Good luck to you - Shawn T is defnitely a good motivator

(5,317 posts)I recently started using the videos. I thought I was in pretty good shape, but those workouts get me exhausted. There's no way I can follow their schedule. I have too many other daily obligations and often don't have the energy. I'll just pick one video at random 2 or 3 times a week and do it. But I do notice I have better energy throughout the day and I'm sleeping better. I'm also able to follow along with the workouts better and not take so many breaks or stop before the time for the various exercises is up.
