so, this is going to have a terrible effect in hiv prevention too

(55,876 posts)To maket Truvada as a possible drug to help prevent HIV infection. Yruvada is now used in a cocktail in HIV positive people.

(106,886 posts)among those already infected. At this point in anti-viral treatment it's become a clear "of course" research conclusion. Reduce the pool of HIV in an individual on up through the infected population at-large and you reduce transmission. ADAP, in that sense, can be seen as a component of prevention as well as treatment.

(106,886 posts)at all reasonable lengths. i.e. In the probable, now actual, event of budget cuts to AIDS programs, ADAP would be the last state funding cut made. It's held up for now, thankfully.
Many programs have been hurt by funding cuts - some severely. Yet I think CA's call was a good one overall.
Agree, state legislatures are the place to do something. They ultimately determine where fed and local dollars go in AIDS prevention, care and treatment.
