You should go to a doctor. It is never a good idea to take medical advice from the internet.

(52,241 posts)I took it for anxiety so I could get to sleep. No side effects, not addictive (at least for me and my dad). I took it before it was a controlled substance in the 90s.
I had about 4 panic attacks and what stopped them right away was breathing into a bag for a few minutes. It regulates the breathing and it worked well for me. A paper bag or even a plastic one held over your mouth and nose and inhale deeply.

(59,605 posts)Anxiety is often caused by worrying about the future. This wonderful course teaches mindfulness, living in the moment. Much healthier!
Those here at DU who have tried the course have said they felt better after the 1st video, which is avail immediatey upon completion of a very brief registration.
I hope it helps you!

While antidepressants are the most commonly used treatment for social anxiety disorder, new research suggests that cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is more effective and, unlike medication, can have lasting effects long after treatment has stopped.
you might look for a Behavioral Therapist in the area.

(12,934 posts)It does shut down anxiety
And it helps you sleep if anxiety keeps you up all night. Sometimes it can make you groggy.
Other than that it works.
Took it for 3 years.
When I was taken off it I had no addiction symptoms.
