FRAK!!

Well, I am not doing well at all. I had an appointment to do a followup with a cardiologist. I had a complete brain fart last Wed. as my brain had decided that the appointment was on that day. I drove over there and had the desk person tell me that I was wrong. So, the appointment was today. I decided to grab a nap around 1:30... and slept through the entire thing. I was supposed to be getting my atorvastin and my metoprolol renewed. They keep going back and forth as to whom is supposed to be prescribing them. Typical bureaucratic shit over things that should not be this difficult. I am slowly becoming such a burden to my spouse. This is untenable.

couldn't your spouse help keep you on track with your appointments? I get appts confused a lot because I am a night worker, but it really helps when they send phone reminders.....

Plus, I am supposed to be taking care of him. He works nights so he is usually unaware of what day it is. They did not send a phone reminder, which is a bit odd. I am just too freaked out to deal with any of this at the moment. I am getting so much worse and my hubby does not deserve this. Right now I am freaking out over the fact that I will be out of heart meds in two days. This last appointment was made three months in advance because that was the available opening. If it is going to take three months to see her again, I am betting I won't make it... assuming those meds are that important.

make it a habit of calling a day or two ahead of an appointment to verify - that may help.....I'm truly sorry you are having to deal with so much stress......

those two meds if you can’t get in to see cardiologist soon.

Not better than seeing your regular doc, but better than waiting months.

Good luck.

I am just done. Hell, I cannot even hold a cup today without almost dropping it from the arthritis pain in my forearm. I should be out walking but I am just not there. I just want all this crap to end.

I'll bet the pharmacy can call your Doc for refills while you are waiting to get in.
Plus, call the Doctor's office to let them know you are out of those meds and ask if they will approve said refills. AND see if they have a 'call if there's a cancellation list' you can get on.

I take Metoprolol and it would cause me a lot of stress if I ran out.

plus I get being a burden to your spouse,,,, I have emphysema and heart issues,,,,, I am useless by afternoon.

on edit: also we share a calendar ~ everything goes on it,,,, part of the daily routine here is to check it.

The pharmacy contacts the doctor and gets refills. I do not have to be involved in it. The issue (so it seems) is that the cardiologist wants my PO to handle the scripts now and I guess there is a problem with that. I do not know, and I am not going to try and pursue it. (Bureaucracy puts me in worse shape than all the other issues combined. Please remember that bureaucracy was invented to shield layers from the public. They employ it on purpose to make sure 'regular' people cannot get to the offices they require. It is designed that way. I do not handle this smoke and mirrors very well. And, considering what my current state of mind would dictate as a reaction, it is best to avoid all that.) I will be calling to reschedule the appointment. If they want me to live so damned much, they can get me the freaking pills.

Then my Better Half is a RN and has saved my life several times. Tape my appointments on my computer screen at the bottom. Got to have a plan A and B.
Best of luck. I have fired lots of doctors in the last 10 years. If they are the problem, they are gone.

She is a freaking rubber stamper and not much more. Every time I go in about an issue, her response is to refer me to some specialist that my insurance does not cover. (How convenient. And predictable. To be honest, I have been wondering how in the hell she got her degree since she seems unwilling or unable to address my issues outside of just filling the scripts I already had when I moved up here. Again, this is all such bullshit and such bureaucratic thinking that I am about done with it. This constant desire to obfuscate and misdirect in our society is too much for someone who just wants to be treated as he treats others. I guess that time has gone.

Gatekeepers. Just send me to specialist. DOs are more hands and fix it in their office.
I'd make the switch. Go on line and check the ratings for local DOs. Several sites thank rank doctor.
You pay them, they work for you.

I may have mentioned something about bureaucracy and how much I love it and the latest is no exception. So, I contacted the cardiologist to reschedule the appointment. The next available is the end of June. I then mentioned that I had one pill left. The dude on the other end transferred me to the pharmacy (which is where the script began, although I get it from the same pharmacy that I normally use after that first time). I left my info and awaited their return call. After about thirty minutes I decided to contact my primary and ask her about this dilemma. She replied that there is a thirty day supply at the pharmacy today and that should get me through to the appointment. I replied that this was news to me, and I would check into it. Sure enough, I just got back from the pharmacy and they had it ready. No one told me that this was even being looked into other than their placation on the phone. Don't you just love it when you are freaking out over something and then someone fixes it behind your back but doesn't inform you about it?

I know I do...

(Thanks again to everyone for letting me vent and freak on here.)
