I think this is a good sign that I'm seeing the right therapist

He always asks about the fur babies and during my last appointment I mentioned how worried I was about Arthur's little problem. I told him how, so often, my mind automatically goes to the worst case scenario because, so often, that's what has happened.

Well, he just called me to say he knew I was stressed and he wanted to know how Arthur was doing! I told him he seems to be recovered so he told me, good. That gives him peace of mind.

I'm totally blown away by this kindness.

Makes a huge difference when that happens. Our vet does it, but not so much from other "providers." Evolve Dammit Jan 2023 #8

Now, when too many and mean and hateful. I'm glad your new therapist is one of the good ones.

It's good to know he considers you outside of the office visits. My therapist is female, close in age, and we connect on a lot of things and have some pretty good laughs too. She called me a few times when my mom and best friend died of covid a few weeks apart.

I hope you gain comfort and trust in your interactions with this guy and that it benefits you in the ways that you need it to.

Long ago (actually 38 years now-a month or so before I got married) when I had my wisdom teeth out, the surgeon (had to go to a hospital because of all the medications I take) called me that evening of same day to check on me. Thought that was nice and surprising.

In my experience, a great therapist is there every step of the way, with appropriate boundaries.

They sort of hold your space. 😉
