I had to ask for redelivery for a needed tax document. I made the mistake of checking informed delivery, and it was supposed to be delivered today. It wasnt
I'm getting a hot flash I'm so agitated. My bill that went missing due to a truck fire ( per postal worker) arrived soaking wet. And ripped, so wet it was illegible.
No one gives a fuck, either.

What in the world did they tell you about a fire truck and your wet mail?

Told me to call the credit card. She didn't know anything more. Then she comes to my door telling me the truck caught on fire, but the mail was safe. I finally got the bill, soaking wet and ripped.

(55,975 posts)Honest to God. Mail truck catches on fire.
Fire truck puts out fire.
Mail delivered dripping wet and torn.
You have to hand it to the carrier, she did deliver the mail to you against all odds.
I'd put money on her getting you the tax form too.
Take deep breaths. I just got my tax form in plenty of time for the deadline.

(13,602 posts)I had to call for the tax forms to be redelivered, since the first mailing was returned to sender. I'm starting to think this is being done on purpose

Or at your home?

(13,602 posts)This has been ongoing now for a few years. Maybe its Dejoy. All I know is its unfair and unacceptable. I call the po and no one answers. I've lived here 12 yrs. Theres no reason to deliver my mail to the neighbor

(55,975 posts)The ones I knew took their jobs seriously.
The carriers have old trucks with no heating or air conditioning.
And the whip is cracked on them all the time.
Sometimes there are temps who don't know what they are doing.
But yes there are some bad eggs. In my local post office some years
back there was a thief who took my daughter's Christmas money out of the envelope.
It was a well known problem at the PO but no one cared.
But that is no longer the case and not the norm.
In general service of any kind is not what it used to be.
Times have changed.

(52,208 posts)The USPS said to mail Xmas cards inside the post office or directly into the hands of your local postman but do NOT put anything in the blue mailboxes outside. Well, I have many items NOT delivered or received via the mail carrier. It doesn't matter. An Xmas card was sent back to me even though the other 14 cards were the same size and weight. This month Verizon didn't get my check and charged me $5, my CA Credit card from the state for Covid relief was "never received" and I could NOT get it back. Even H and R Block couldn't believe it but it is true. They checked into it. So I lost $200 due to the incompetent USPS. Oh goodie!!! I thought this was due to Dejoy and I want to know when this BS will improve?!?

(13,602 posts)And my patience is gone. I'm sorry, I had a terrible sucky job, too. They messed up my COBRA check. Misdelivering mail. Damaging mail. I had to cancel a check and beg the bank not to charge me 34 dollars.
And there's not a fucking thing I can do.
