Saw counselor today again, finally

We kinda lost touch for a few months. Between my health scare in October, Dad passing in Nov, holidays etc etc.
It just felt good to talk to him again! Our 1 hour, became 1:45 as we just caught up and talked. ( or so it felt) . I got a few corrections on how I handled certain situations, and a couple kudos as well.
My advice to new people to counseling is, put your heart on your sleeve when you walk in the door. Secrets don’t help counseling. And when you leave and feel fairly positive, GO BACK.
You aren’t only getting help, you have a good counselor.

As a side note, he changed to telemedicine as he is re-coupling from a surgery, so I got to stay home for appt. I told him” I can finally smoke during our meetings “.
