Mental Health Support
Related: About this forumI feel so empty
So last Thursday I kind of hit a mental break and what I mean by that is I completely broke. After my post I just went hysterical and broke down crying and just wanted to die. The hate against people like me it's just becoming way too overbearing to handle anymore. Simply turning off the news doesn't make it go away.
My mom wanted to get me away from any weapons I can get my hands on because I do own guns and I usually probably would have done it given the state I was in but she kept me away from the safe. She called 911 because it was getting pretty bad and I ended up sitting with paramedics for a bit before they took me to the hospital. Finally was able to calm down in the ER and they asked if I would be fine with being taken for a 72 hour voluntary hold. Which I was fine with. I had a long weekend reflecting on my life and hearing horror stories about other LGBTQ people that have been in and out of that place.
I was out about Sunday evening. And here I am still alive but I am no longer to take a gun anymore for safety reasons.
But I'm lifeless. I feel no happiness or hope. I might have bought time for now before the inevitable happens. But I'm expecting no good ending anymore. I've started drinking a lot more to keep myself numb from the shitty reality that I face.
People have no clue what it is like to be trans outside of others like me. While those are distracted by trans women in sports. They laid the groundwork to make genocide a-okay because they found a wedge issue everyone could somewhat around upon. Basically giving a thumbs up for laws to erase us.
When the time comes. I'll happily erase myself before they can.

(24,145 posts)I don't know what its like to be trans. But I really hope you can find the peace you need and deserve, without resorting to taking your own life. I have been there, and won't bore you with tired platitudes.
What is one thing you really care about?

(360 posts)Unfortunately nothing I can say will help. But please seek out a support group. I do care and want you to know that there are many like me who do not want you to experience such hate. As a woman in my 70s I know how much the trans community helped and suffered to support women's rights. If I could give you a hug and tell you how beautiful you are I would. I have read your posts and my heart breaks for you. I was glad to read your mom was there hopefully she will stay strong. You deserve so much more from your fellow human.

(4,214 posts)These idiots that inflict their bullshit on the rest of us have always been with us and always will. They are like a cancer in remission that comes roaring back every few generations. So much forward motion has been made in human rights in the last sixty years or so, that keeping with the law of physics, there was bound to be an equal reactionary response.
We need warriors right now. Just like those brave women who are suing the rotten bastards in Texas who passed those anti-abortion laws, all of us have to stand up, play our part, and beat down this Fascist cancer that threatens all of us.
I fight down depression sometimes, as well. Since 1968, Ive been involved politically and watched the both progress and deterioration right before my eyes.
But we just cant give up. Were at a pivotal point in history. Pick yourself up, stay active in the fight and dont isolate yourself.
Take good care of yourself. We need you and each other.

(59,617 posts)If you're not getting therapy, please consider it.
Did docs at hospital put you on anti-depressants? If so, please be consistent with taking them. They can take a couple of weeks to work. And, while meds won't change any circumstances in your life, they can lift the fog of depression & reduce anxiety so you are able to think clearly, function, & begin enjoying your life again.
I know at one time, you talked about you & mom moving out of that red hellhole. Are you still considering that as a possibility? If not, maybe this is a good time to reconsider doing so. To a much more lgbtq-friendly place. MI just passed a bunch of Dem backed laws & Chicago is lgbtq friendly. They have a great Pride parade in June each year. There are many lgbtq recreational sports teams you could join, there is an lgbtq band you could be involved with. People travel from all over to get to take part in Pride there & just be with others of like mind & lifestyle.
And I'm sure there are other places you could move where you would fit in better & be happy!
One thing is certain, V: if you end your life, you will not have an opportunity to be happy.
We value you, V. I can only begin to imagine how horrid it is for you to live in that red helhole, but I can definitely imagine you living in a beautiful Blue bubble, a life filled with friends & laughter & joy!

(4,214 posts)I hit a very bad patch 10 years ago and went on an anti-depressant. I resisted it at first but glad I finally agreed to take it. Yes, they can take a few weeks to kick in, but when they do, youll feel so much better and ready to live life again.

and theres lots of duers here.
1 more bit of advice- if you decide to try meds, see if you can get a pharma dna test. trial and error is a hard way to go, and science can make that easier.

(2,937 posts)I am an 80 yr old straight woman and wish the people who want to make your life hell would just shut up and pay attention to real problems instead of using their hate and nastiness as an excuse to vent their own problems on another person...hang in there...if they don't like your orientation...too bad you have as much right to be as they do

I am the proud Mom of a trans child and have seen the hate and bullying towards an innocent soul who hurt no one.
The world is a better place with you in it.
My friend is a Native American and told me and my child that you are revered by them, considered to be special, having "two spirits"
My child now wears a Tshirt with that on there.
There are more people supporting you than is obvious, especially right now.
I am here anytime to message.
With love and hugs.

back always makes me feel good. Then once you have gone through hell (and kept going) and come out the other side you can volunteer to publicly speak your truth or write about it. You will be well and wise. For now concentrate on having one or three accepted communities you can enjoy. And try different meds till you find the right ones... they do amazing things for your bottom line mood wise. (((Hugs)))) I saw two very trans-positive stories on the news today. There is understanding and love out there.

(2,960 posts)Please know you are not alone. There are many kindred spirits who are tortured by the petty little bullies efforts to denigrate some of us. You have many siblings, brothers and sisters who stand with you. Do take the advice of others and look into antidepressants, they can provide miraculous help in navigating the emotional upheaval that is living life today.
We have Oreos yet to eat and times like these make us stronger. Yeah, its a cliche but goddamn it if it aint true. Love ya pal, hang in there.

(6,359 posts)Wise words. and, you are not alone. You are way more than anyone who dares to think they can attack you for being you. This desire by the right to force their insanity on everyone else is not working despite the illusion by the media that it does. Just keep in mind that their time is coming. Soon.

(4,214 posts)You never know where you might find it. I have good friends in the Unitarian church in southern Virginia. They are very welcoming and have special outreach activities to the LGBTQ community. Every time I talk to them, they are going out to volunteer to help someone.
Here in Southern California, after the 2016 election, the Unitarians opened their doors to anyone who needed to gather, talk and grieve.
These are tough times but you are not alone.

(8,672 posts)You erase yourself, they win and we lose a beautiful soul. So many more people do care about you than don't. You have validity and purpose. Don't let the haters take that from you and us.

(36,159 posts)know that we are here for you. As suggested, can you move? Do you have any hobbies or interests that can you can do? Spring is coming--perhaps make plans for a garden or go for walks? You are too valuable as a person to do yourself in. Do you have a support network of friends that you can go out with? I miss your posts on the main board. I would miss you.

(15,509 posts)Im so sorry that the world has just gone nuts. Goodness, why cant people just embrace diversity and allow others to live their lives as they see fit. Its such a simple concept and yet we have so many jerks who have such a need to control others.
I just wanted to say - Im actually a Christian and Im often embarrassed and incensed at the claims many who proclaim to be Christian make. No one has to believe as I do. You or anyone is free to find your own path. These Evangelical crazies have high jacked the tenets of what Christianity is in my opinion and they have been given a platform to scream their hate and absurdities. Ignore them. Believe as you want or see fit. But know that some of us who are Christians arent the haters like the others. You are here for a reason and you mustnt take away the potential for you to fulfill that reason. Maybe this post sounds stupid to you, and thats okay. But I wish you all the best and I want you to live and be happy.
