I sincerely solicited your thoughts because i have only known two people who were hypochondriacs. I just wondered if it was because these people were given lots of attention and concern over their "illnesses" (positive reinforcement) and maybe men would not get the same attention and concern in social settings? I have never met a man or a boy who talked about illnesses constantly. If they mentioned illness it was because they really were sick, had been hospitalized for a prolonged period. etc. Mind you, I have not known millions of people.

I've know 1 Female & 1 Male hypochondriacs - the female being worse than the male. Every news item about some new disease or disorder, she is at the doctor that week to get checked out, then bitches about being broke. I honestly can't figure out how she makes all the co-pays for tests...

As an aside, they are both Virgos - notorious in the astrological wheel for being hypochondriacs...

But, his only fairs up when being 'sick' is going to get him something, usually attention. (The other big one is getting out of work.) He loves being the center of attention... as long as that attention is positive towards him. You catch him in a lie or point out a mistake and he hides in his room for days. sigh.
