I contacted my congressperson about my Social Security situation.

They replied yesterday. I am denied Social Security Disability, and I am denied Supplementary Income, both due to the measly income that my husband makes because he had to return to being a baker with a company that removed his entire department during COVID. He had no choice but to return and bake because we are failing fast. It is part-time work and they won't give him full time hours. Now, all of my efforts to get us some help have failed as well. Where are the nearest train tracks? I am done now. There is no hope. There is no life for anyone who does not work themselves to death for the oligarchy. I am not sure if I want to even worry about anyone or anything right now since no one gives one rat's ass about me. Maybe selling my organs might bring a little something in for him. I will have to look into that.

a lawyer and applying again. I think they tend to deny everyone at first.

I got on SSD fairly easily and I remember they used to send me papers about my condition every year. My mother always screamed that I should fill them out very neatly etc etc. I filled the damn things out with crayon sometimes. Don't let them see your healthy side. It is not fair often because mental illness is not often seen.

I wish you the very best. I hope you keep trying.

You have to be beyond poor to get it, especially if you're in a red state. Red states set very difficult standards for SI.

But Disability can be gotten usually on appeal. My spouse was denied twice before they got a lawyer and won on appeal. But the good thing is Social Security will pay you all the way back to when you first applied so that you can pay your lawyer from that lump sum. Some states have laws on how much lawyers can charge for help with Social Security Disability.

Keep trying, don't give up.

Also, some folks here have had success with crowd funding sites to help them make ends meet.

This is just temporary. You are just in a rough spot. I was where you were 25 years ago and things did turn around.

Have you had a hearing with an ALJ? If not, request one. If that does not work, appeal. Attorneys
will not charge you until you are receiving your disability then they will be paid out of your back payments.

Not true. The problem is that people have no comprehension about how much documentation, extremely extensive documentation, is needed.

Some years back I worked for an attorney who did Social Security Disability denial claims. Most of my time with her was spent at one of the nearby Social Security offices photocopying her clients' paperwork. Everything, and I mean EVERTHING needs to be documented. All doctor visits. All aspects of the disability. Forms filled out detailing how they get about in daily life. I often photocopied six or more inches of paperwork. I also got to sit in on at least one appeal before a judge. Very interesting. I also listened in as she accepted or denied (in the denial I know the man slightly) a client.

So finding a SSDI attorney might well be a good idea.

This was my second attempt to get something... anything to help me and my husband. I had an attorney both times. The first time it took three years and a judge to deny me. This time, my so called attorney did not even try to appeal, she just lamely suggested that I contact my congressperson. Well, I am sure that Rep. Omar is a wonderful person but her office seems unable to help either. So, no help. Fine. I am done with this waste of skin anyway. Obviously no one who could do something about this cares enough to help in any way. And, nice to know that everything I have ever done means nothing to anyone. Complete waste of time.
